INFUSION
Infusions are the commonly known form of herbal tea in which herbs are literally infused in hot water (usually one heaping teaspoon of dried herbs per cup of hot water for 15 to 20 minutes or longer for medicinal strength). This is the ideal method for extracting the medicinal compounds in most berries, flowers, and leaves. You can also use fresh herbs. But because of the higher water content, you usually need to double the amount of herbal matter per cup of water (2 teaspoons per cup of water instead of one).
Items needed:
1. Heat-safe glass/porcelain/stainless steel container with tight fitting lid (teapot/french press preferred).
2. Apothekary Tea Blend of choice (Brain Tea or Sleep Tea recommended)
3. Clean purified spring/filtered water
4. Strainer
Directions: (3-4 servings)
1. Bring 1 quart (4 cups) water to boil
2. Add 3 tbs herb and water into container
3. Tightly cover container with lid
4. Allow to steep for 15-20 mins (For medicinal strength, allow to steep for 8hrs to overnight).
5. Strain and enjoy!

DECOCTION
To extract the medicinal compounds from seeds, roots, stems, barks, or any coarse part of the plant, you want to make a decoction which involves bringing the herbs and water to a boil and reducing the heat to allow it to simmer for about 30 minutes to an hour. Usually around one heaping teaspoon of dried herbs per cup of water. Note that this method is less suitable for berries, flowers, and leaves because it tends to destroy many of the delicate medicinal compounds and other volatile oils.
Items needed:
1. Stovetop-safe pot glass/porcelain/stainless steel container with tight fitting lid (teapot/french press preferred).
2. Apothekary Tea Blend of choice (Blood Tea, Vitali Tea, or Immuni-tea recommended).
3. Heat Safe Container (mason jar or pot)
4. Clean purified spring/filtered water
5. Strainer
Directions: (3-4 servings)
1. Add 3 tbs herbs and 1 quart (4 cups) cold/room temperature water to Stovetop-safe pot.
2. Place pot on stove, cover with lid, and bring water and herbs to boil
3. Immediately reduce to low heat and allow to simmer for 20-30 mins
4. Allow decoction to cool, strain, and enjoy!
